Vision

Work with parents and families

We acknowledge the pivotal role that families play in their children’s lives. We aim to enrich and establish secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships. We believe that quality relationships between educators and parents, assist the service to provide both group and individual experiences that are essential to optimise children’s overall development and learning, thus helping them to acquire positive attitudes, values and dispositions. Working alongside families we develop our curriculum and maintain the high quality of care.

We believe that working in partnerships with families is central to ensuring continuity and progression in a child’s learning, development, and future success.

Work with children

We view children as unique individuals with the ability to construct knowledge about themselves, others, and the world around them. Children develop and learn at their own pace through active play, exploration, and discovery.

Daystar Educators are well trained and passionate. We believe that children have a right to be active participants in their own learning and must be empowered to express their views and ideas. A child’s opinion is valued for its validity to their perspective and their autonomy and initiative needs to be respected. As dedicated Educators, we ensure continuity and progression in the children’s learning for future success.

Educators scaffold individual and group learning, challenge children’s abilities through branching, reflection and analysis. Our program is designed and based on children, family and community input. Our program gives children the flexibility to incorporate to use of both indoor and outdoor environments. Educators reflect on achievable outcomes, reflective practices and provide choices to ensure the program actively promote children’s learning fostering intentional teaching, planned and spontaneous experiences designed to meet developmental domains. Daystars believe that by providing an environment that is enriched with meaningful, realistic opportunities to explore, create, imagine and discover children become active participants and collaborators.

Work with the community

We strive to maintain positive relationships within our community, our open-door policy is an invitation to build on strong community communication and involvement. We welcome feedback to develop and grow and meet family needs. We understand the importance of fostering these partnerships and incorporate this into a program to guide and support children and families’ expectations and reassurance.

Educators and the environment

We provide a friendly, nurturing and welcoming environment for children and parents, and respect and involve those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Staff and Educators value children’s cultural and religious backgrounds, believing that all children should be treated equally regardless of gender, culture, religion, and ability. Educators are responsive to all children’s strengths, abilities, and interests. We will value and build on children’s strengths, skills, and knowledge to ensure their motivation and engagement in learning (EYLF). We aim to create an environment of trust and respect, where we work towards achieving a shared goal. Ongoing professional development within the industry is a critical aspect of staff to keep up to date with relevant changes and update and reflect on our current practices and our actions.

Further, we also appreciate the experience and skills of all Educators/Staff and their dedication to our successful service.

Daystars Early Learning – Philosophy

We value the natural environment and its creatures and are committed to sustainable practices. Our aim is to be a community role model in sustainability by caring for the environment, reducing, reusing, recycling and being ‘green’. Children connect to the world around them naturally, as the Educators and staff at Daystar, assist and role-model the ‘right attitude’ to develop their ideas and understanding of their surroundings. Daystar’s endeavor and welcome to share and celebrate multicultural traditions throughout our program, feedback and reflection of our learning environments. The Educators and Staff create welcoming spaces to reflect our visions responding to the children’s, families and community interests and cater to specific needs. Daystars will strive to meet and cater for family requests, abilities and learning styles and invite families to contribute to our learning program and the learning Framework.
